Germany ranks among the top three most popular study destinations for international students. And it’s no surprise: studying in Germany means education at the highest level - an ideal foundation for a successful career both at home and worldwide.

Do you want to study at a German university with an Indonesian school-leaving certificate? Learn more about the Studienkolleg, the official program that provides access to higher education in Germany.

What is the Studienkolleg?

Since 2003, Studienkolleg Indonesia has been preparing Indonesian high school graduates for university studies in Germany. Supported by the Yayasan Indonesia-Jerman, it collaborates with numerous Indonesian and German institutions involved in its establishment—among them the Lower Saxony Studienkolleg at the University of Hannover and the German International School (DIS).

Studienkolleg Indonesia is one of the few overseas preparatory colleges worldwide that specifically prepares applicants and prospective students in their home country for studying in Germany, thereby facilitating access for Indonesians to the still highly attractive universities in the heart of Europe.

At the Goethe-Institut Bandung, you can obtain information and receive individual counseling about Studienkolleg Indonesia to help you prepare for your studies in Germany.

A Studienkolleg in Germany is a 6- to 12-month preparatory course designed to prepare students for university studies. It includes the following steps:
  1. An entrance examination
  2. Attendance at the Studienkolleg in Germany
  3. A final assessment examination
After successfully completing the Studienkolleg, students receive what is known as the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification (HZB), which enables them to begin university studies in Germany.

Why participate?

The Studienkolleg serves as a bridge for high school graduates who are not yet enrolled at a university and wish to study in Germany. Universities reserve a number of places specifically for Studienkolleg graduates, increasing your chances of admission.
  • Access to Higher Education in Germany
The only pathway for international applicants without a German Abitur who have not yet started university studies in their home country.
  • Focused on Your Goal
Subject-specific courses tailored to the field of study you intend to pursue.
  • No Age or Subject Restrictions
The Studienkolleg is open to everyone, regardless of age or intended field of study, as long as it is for a first academic degree.
Read testimonials from Indonesian students who have been admitted to German universities. They share their preparation for studying in Germany, their experiences during their studies, and their transition into professional life.

How to apply for the Studienkolleg

Each Studienkolleg has different requirements, submission obligations, and processes. The required level of German language proficiency also varies, starting from B1 and above.

In addition to the German language subject, you will take a specialized course in the field you intend to study. This is part of the entrance examination and must be specified when applying.
