“Tina Kosasih and Joi Rumengan” is a multimedia performance and exhibition project initiated by Suina Latersia and Tegar Pratama in collaboration with eight local artists and the Goethe-Institut Bandung.

Artist Suina Latersia and writer and lecturer Tegar Pratama met at KOTATON, a program of the Rubicon Project initiated in 2021 by the Goethe-Institut Bandung, Institut Français Indonesia and the Rakarsa Foundation. The aim of this project was to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and the creation of new artistic and activist connections in Bandung and beyond. The Goethe-Institut Bandung continues to support the interdisciplinary initiatives of new practitioners of arts and culture and provide space for such projects.

The basis of this performance and exhibition project is the short story “Tina Kosasih and Joi Rumengan”, co-written by Suina Latersia and Tegar Pratama.
During the process of creating this work, they experimented with collaborative writing processes and repeatedly reacted to texts being worked on alternately or in conjunction. This short story is about the love story between Tina and Joi, who have been in a harmonious and almost utopian love relationship for ten years but are repeatedly faced with stereotypes and problems due to their different backgrounds. In the action, various currently relevant topics and discourses are raised. The story ends with the engagement of the couple.
