The Goethe-Institut Irland has been an invaluable partner to Cork International Film Festival, contributing to the presentation of special Cine Concert events and supporting the exhibitionof new German films for Irish audiences at Irelan’s first and largest film festival.

In 2018, we were delighted to screen the early horror-cinemamasterpiece ‘Nosferatu’ in the suggestive Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral (Cork), accompaniedby live organ, viola, cello andelectronics in an eerie modern classical score by Cork composers Linda Buckley and Irene Buckley.

‘Der Golem’, a classic example of early German Expressionist Cinema screened in 2019, accompanied by a live score by leading silent film accompanist, Stephen Horne. These cultural events would not have been possible without the collaboration of the Goethe-Institut Irland. As long-standing supporters,we look forward to continuing ourpartnership to promote the dissemination of both contemporary and classic German cinema amongst audiences in Ireland.
