Film Heritage Foundation, in association with the Wim Wenders Stiftung (Wim Wenders Foundation) and in collaboration with Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai presented Wim Wenders – King of the Road – The India Tour, a first-of-its-kind retrospective dedicated to one of the greatest masters of world cinema. The retrospective took place in the presence of Wim Wenders, who visited India for the first time.
The extensive India retrospective showcased the auteur’s astonishing range of films spanning a career of more than half a century. A total of 18 of his films – features, short films and documentaries were screened in five cities - Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, New Delhi and Pune from February 5 to February 23, 2025. The screenings were open to the general public on a first come, first served basis.
This unique retrospective saw Wim Wenders, who is famous for his road movies, travel across India presenting his films in the different cities in public events as well as in engagements with film students and the film community.
Legendary German filmmaker Wim Wenders led an inspiring masterclass in Mumbai at the historic 1100 seater Regal Cinema, as part of the Wim Wenders—King of the Road—The India Tour. In this two hour session Wenders spoke at length about his six decades long career, his life long creative collaborations, his faith in young filmmakers along with other important topics related to the art of filmmaking .
