This grant is to enable performing artists working in the field of music from developing and transition countries to prepare new international programmes and productions with partners in Germany. The object of the programme is to promote international artistic collaboration and intensive cultural exchange on a partnership basis.

Artists' houses support professional artists of all disciplines by providing them with studio space and accommodation for limited periods of time, often combined with the award of a stipend or grant. They are international meeting places and centres of cultural and creative exchange. On the following pages, the various artists' houses in Germany are listed with an outline of their programmes and selection procedures.

AFAC is launching an exceptional support scheme, the Artist Support Grant, in solidarity with artists and independent cultural practitioners under confinement across the Arab region, and whose creative practices and incomes are being adversely impacted by the Coronavirus crisis. The Artist Support Grant aims to extend support to affected independent artists with a one-time $3000 grant to support their artistic practice over a period of 3 to 6 months. This grant is open to artists of all practices (visual arts, performing arts, music, cinema, documentary film, documentary photography, research, writings…).

The Goethe-Institut Libanon, within the framework of the project FANTASMEEM, is planning to implement a hybrid or fully online incubator programme dedicated to young and mid-career cultural and creative professionals in the field of design as well as social entrepreneurs active in the CCI in Lebanon.
The Design Entrepreneurship Incubator Programme is intended to support up to 50 design freelancers, creative professionals, and social entrepreneurs in the CCI sector in Lebanon, who have a business model idea or an early-stage start-up, and whose sources of income have been severely affected by the pandemic or the economic crisis in the country.

A programme supporting artists and independent cultural entities in their artistic practices, so that they can thrive in their current working conditions and circumstances. Laborarory of Arts supports projects from all artistic fields, including the five major artistic sectors: cinema and animation; visual arts; creative writing; performing arts and music.As of this edition, the programme will offer twenty grants every year.

Travel is severely restricted for the time being due to the corona pandemic. As a result, not only have nearly all live performances been cancelled, but so have most physical residencies for artists and co-productions. In reaction to the resulting changes in working conditions in the music scene, the Goethe-Institut has created this virtual residency programme with a view to maintaining and reinforcing international exchange and collaboration. Funding for virtual partner residencies is now available to arrange for international musical collaboration projects.

The Goethe-Institut Kairo is looking for trainers and facilitators for a digital training on Creative Entrepreneurship targeting up to 30 Arabic speaking creatives from Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq between August and September. The aim of the training is to offer participants high-quality on-the-job training with a practical and hands-on set of knowledge and skills to enhance their entrepreneurial skills with regard to the challenges they face with the mid- and long-term. It aims at promoting their creative business activities in a sustainable way, thus contributing to their creative industries locally and regionally.

K3 – Zentrum für Choreographie | Tanzplan Hamburg provides three eight-month residencies to choreographers, who are currently at the beginning of their career and have produced some choreographic work of their own. The residency starts in August 2022 and runs until April 2023. It includes a monthly grant, production budget, and dramaturgical support, as well as participation in training, courses, etc.

Open call by the Prince Claus Fund and the Goethe-Institut. This mentorship is a year-long interdisciplinary programme that creates space for artists and cultural practitioners to explore critical artistic practices on the intersection of arts and environmentalism. The mentorship brings together 12 emerging artists and cultural practitioners (± 8-15 years of relevant professional experience) with 4 mentors, all working across a range of disciplines and environmental issues in a year-long programme aimed at accelerating engaged cultural practices and fostering leadership.

The Goethe-Institut’s grant programme Translations of German Books into Other Languages supports non-German publishers in publishing German-language literature. The programme supports the translation of current works of contemporary literature, literature for children and young people, comics and graphic novels as well as important academic titles and non-fiction works.

International coproductions epitomize a form of artistic collaboration involving partnership and dialogue. With a view to encouraging new collaborative working processes and innovative productions involving international cultural exchange, the Goethe-Institut set up a new coproduction fund in since the summer of 2016 to promote new working networks and approaches within a global context and to explore new forms of intercultural collaboration.

The Goethe-Institut's Visual Arts Project Fund supports artists, curators and institutions from different countries and regions in the realisation of projects planned jointly and based on an equal division of labour and creative input. The aim is to promote international networks in the visual arts, architecture, design and art education/cultural mediation through innovative artistic and curatorial work.
