The Goethe-Institut Myanmar is seeking a committed and experienced colleague for the position of Visibility & Advocacy Coordinator, starting from July 2026. The position is part of a multi‑year initiative supported by the European Union and will be offered on a three‑year fixed‑term contract.

About the Goethe-Institut and the Project
The Goethe‑Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, active worldwide. It promotes the German language abroad, fosters international cultural cooperation, and supports dialogue between civil societies.The Academy of Care (AoC) is a flagship initiative of the Goethe‑Institut Myanmar focusing on creative arts therapies, trauma‑informed care, and community‑based approaches to trauma recovery, mental health, and psychosocial support (MHPSS).
Funded by the European Union, the project strengthens professional training, capacity building, and resilience in Myanmar’s care sectors. It promotes local and regional exchange and supports inclusive care practices for diverse communities across the country. By advancing the integration of creative arts therapies into mental health and wellbeing services, the AoC contributes to more holistic, accessible, and culturally responsive support systems in Myanmar.
Position Overview
The Visibility & Advocacy Coordinator leads the planning and implementation of visibility, communication, and advocacy activities across Academy of Care (AoC) programs. The role designs and applies advocacy and visibility strategies in line with AoC values, institutional objectives, and donor requirements, including EU visibility guidelines.Working closely with the project team, the team of the Goethe-Institut Myanmar, facilitators, alumni, partners, and external stakeholders, the position manages content creation for the website and social media, and awareness-raising materials, documents activities for advocacy and the overall project and reporting, and supports the Senior Project Lead as well as the Outreach Manager in strengthening public engagement across digital, print, and event-based platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Visibility, Advocacy & Communication Strategy
- Plan and implement visibility and advocacy activities in line with programme goals and donor requirements
- In collaboration with the Senior Project Lead and Outreach Manager, develops and implements a strategy for advocacy and awareness‑raising activities across Myanmar, aligned with the overall implementation strategy.
- Ensure clear, consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels
- Advise programme teams on visibility needs for activities, events, and publications
- Ensure all materials comply with EU and Goethe Institut’s institutional visibility, communications and corporate design guidelines
Content Oversight & Creative Direction
- Coordinate and quality control of communication content (text, visuals, video)
- Support content creation for social media, websites, newsletters, reports, and advocacy materials
- Coordinate documentation of events and programmes, including photo and video coverage
- Manage and organise digital content, archives, and asset libraries
Digital Platforms & Public Engagement
- Coordinate digital campaigns related to programs, events, and advocacy priorities.
- Coordinate the use of digital platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube)
- Support audience engagement, community interaction, and basic performance monitoring
- Use insights and analytics to improve communication and advocacy approaches
- Support digital campaigns related to programmes, events, and advocacy priorities
Internal & External Coordination
- Work closely with programme, administration, and communication team
- Coordinate with partners, facilitators, artists, and external contributors on communication outputs
- Support media relations and external communication activities
- Represent visibility and advocacy perspectives in internal planning meetings
Research, Documentation & Reporting
- Support research and background information for advocacy and communication content
- Contribute to reports, donor communication materials, and publications
- Support visibility-related reporting required by donors and partners
- Maintain records of communication and advocacy activities
- Support M&E to measure impact of reach and engagement
Qualifications and Requirements
Required
- University degree in Communications, Press, Public Relations or Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field
- 4–5 years of professional experience in visibility, advocacy, communications, press and public relations or related roles
- Excellent command of English and Myanmar (spoken and written)
- Experience in content creation, editing, and visual communication
- Experience with press and public relations
- Proficiency in design tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Canva) and basic video editing
- Strong understanding of digital and on‑site communication as well as social media platforms.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and in a team, in an intercultural and multilingual environment
- Sensitivity and experience in working in crisis‑affected and complex settings, including the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for events
- Willingness to travel within Myanmar
Desirable
- Familiarity with EU and/or international donor visibility and communication requirements, as well as corporate design guidelines.
- Strong storytelling skills and sensitivity to ethical communication
- Strategic thinking with attention to detail
- Proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented working style
- Experience working with NGOs, international organisations, cultural institutions, or donor-funded projects
- Proficiency in German and/or an ethnic language spoken in Myanmar is considered an advantage.
