KinoFest Prelude #5 with Rift Gallery

Join us at RIFT Gallery for an evening of films exploring questions of migration, belonging, identity, and home!

The programme opens with No Hard Feelings (Futur Drei, 2020), directed by Faraz Shariat. The film follows Parvis, the son of Iranian parents, as he spends a summer between parties, casual relationships, and community service at a refugee shelter, where he falls in love with Amon. Through Parvis’ experiences, the film explores queer identity, migration, and the feeling of not quite belonging.

The screening is followed by The River Flows in Different Places (2026), a short documentary by Filipino filmmaker Lot-lot Hermosura. The film follows two Filipino-Palestinian mothers who were forced to flee Gaza as they recount their repatriation journey to the Philippines and their attempt to rebuild a sense of home in a place that is both foreign and familiar.

After the screenings, join us for an open conversation and talkback with director Lot-lot Hermosura and producer Yani Ali, together with invited guests from the Philippines-Palestine Friendship Association. The discussion offers an opportunity to reflect on both films and the questions they raise about displacement, identity, and belonging.

Held in the relaxed setting of RIFT Gallery, the evening offers an early encounter with films and conversations leading up to KinoFest: German Film Festival this October. This event is open to the public.
