Both Nicholas Hlobo’s static and performance pieces inspired this mobile. In particular, his choice of materials and sewing techniques, which reflect local conditions and also abstract and spiritual concepts. His stitched works supply the idea of biomorphic forms and each element of the mobile is independent of the others, an idea that further connects with Hlobo’s art.
