Photo (detail): © privat Jingzhou Shi, born in 1978 in Shanxi province, studied German language and literature at Xi'an Foreign Language University and Beijing Foreign Language University. She has worked as a freelance translator since 2003 and has translated several German works into Chinese, including the German Book Prize-winning novel The Have-Nots by Katharina Hacker and How the World Revolution Once Accidentally Started in the Black Forest by Adrian Geiges. She has participated several times in the Goethe-Institut's translation support programmes, the results being Chinese translations of works in the humanities and arts, such as Gender@Wissen. A Handbook of Gender Theories and Faces. A History of the Face by Hans Belting and Dada. A Hundred Years by Martin Mittelmeier. She has also translated numerous German books for children and young adults.
