Kawin in Germany 2

Accompany 16-year-old Kawin with your students on his stay in Germany. The bilingual publication by the Goethe-Institut offers exercises for everyday life and online activities to promote German comprehension.

Who is Kawin?

Kawin is a 16-year-old Thai boy and the main character of the publication Kawin in Germany 2. The student flies to Germany for a youth exchange program and meets the Jäger family in Freiburg. In ten exciting and entertaining chapters, he travels through Germany, learns about German festivals and experiences cultural differences and similarities in his everyday life.

With this book, the Goethe-Institut Thailand would like to give all learners of German and those interested in Germany the opportunity to gain an insight into the German language and culture. The special feature of this book is that it is bilingual and therefore also suitable for learners of German from language level A1. Each of the ten chapters contains tasks and exercises. QR codes also take you to other online activities that are great for improving your German comprehension.

About the book

In Thailand, there are around 8,000 students who study German as a major or minor subject at their school. Yet only a few of them have been to Germany or are friends with Germans who could tell them something about everyday life in Germany. Ten hours by plane, or more than 9,000 kilometers, is a long distance that cannot be bridged easily. Many students therefore only know Germany from lessons or the media and would still like to know more about the country between the North Sea/Baltic Sea and the Alps.
What is the famous Oktoberfest really like? What other festivals are celebrated in Germany? How do you even travel through Germany? What are the differences and similarities to Thailand? Kawin in Germany 2 is a book for all those students in Thailand who are already learning German, want to learn German or are just interested in Germany and its people.
