Over the course of 49 minutes - the time it takes to develop 35mm positive film - the artists recreate the daily actions they performed in their apartment in St. Petersburg. These seemingly mundane gestures, based on familiar micro-trajectories, shape and define our lives. Using photo and video materials, repetitive movements, and a floor plan of their apartment, the artists invite the audience to reconstruct their final hours in Russia together.
Artists
aliveduo (Alena Starostina & Ivan Nikolaev)
aliveduo is the collaborative artistic partnership of Alena Starostina and Ivan Nikolaev, focusing on performative and visual art.
In their projects, they work with the concept of “time” in performative practice and are interested in searching for a non-standard approach to the chosen material.
Combining their extensive backgrounds in acting, directing, and performance, they create experimental works that explore the intersections of theater, modern art, and multimedia.
Dmitry Vlasik
Dmitry Vlasik was born in 1981. He completed Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory as a percussionist and performed since then numerous world and Russian premiers of works by Xenakis, Stockhausen, Feldman, Cardew, Cage, Billone, Ferneyhough, Sysoev, Khubeev, Gorlinsky, etc. Vlasik composed and designed music as well as sound for more than 45 spectacles in Russia, Latvia, Germany, Austria, France, Spain. He also scored 5 films. Since 2022 he lives in Paris, France.
