Mirath — Musical Heritage

MIRATH:MUSIC

MIRATH:MUSIC is a sound exhibition about the cultural heritage music in North and Northeast Africa and West Asia. The music productions use the participating artists’ individual takes on the subject and play with musical elements from different times and places.

The music productions for MIRATH:MUSIC were created online due to the pandemic and developed in two phases: In 2020, seven co-productions were realized, serving as an initial exploration of the theme of musical heritage, though they were not presented as part of the touring exhibition. In 2021, seven artists each produced two musical pieces and a collaborative fifteen-minute composition.
