Expansionist fantasies, punitive tariffs, the withdrawal from international agreements, unresolved security issues and concerns about the future of Ukraine - all of this characterises Donald Trump's first hundred days in office.

How is Trump's ‘America First’ strategy affecting transatlantic relations? What is the economic, foreign and security policy situation?

The weekend German course from 20 to 22 June in Luxembourg will first look at the historically evolved relationship between the USA and the EU - and in particular the transatlantic partnership between the USA and Germany - and then focus on the changes that have taken place in recent months. The question of what foreign policy position the European Union should adopt and what its strategic positioning should look like in order to defend its interests vis-à-vis the USA will also be examined. It also examines the question of what foreign policy position the European Union must adopt and what its strategic positioning must look like in order to better represent its interests vis-à-vis the USA.
