1976, in the Dresden suburb of Gittersee: Karin is 16, looks after her little sister, helps her rebellious grandmother with the housework, and is in love with her boyfriend Paul, who would like to be an artist but works in the Wismut mine. In her haunting debut novel, Charlotte Gneuß tells of a world that no longer exists and of the question of whether innocence is possible.
The author will be appearing twice at the Foire du Livre de Bruxelles to promote her award-winning debut novel Gittersee. There will also be a stand dedicated to German-language literature, under the motto “Wanderlust.” You can find us in Hall 1 (Gare Maritime) at booth 123. Feel free to stop by.
