Participation for EU officials and ministerial officials from EU member states/accession candidate countries with working relationships with the EU institutions
Language level: B2 – C1
The ‘Literature – art – discourse’ course series covers current trends in literature, art and culture which are shaping discourse in Germany. Every session focuses on an author or artist who provides insight into their works or specialist field. Every session is preceded by a preparation phase (the times of which can be arranged individually) with language-learning content (vocabulary, grammar, style) which uses the work or topic area as a starting point. A ‘euro package’ is provided containing key course materials.

30 March, 11.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.: Discussion with the author Anne Weber about her book Annette, ein Heldinnenepos (Annette, a Heroine Epic) – (German Book Prize 2020)
20 April, 12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.: Anna Sailer (Deputy Director of the Museum of Modern Art (MMK), Frankfurt am Main) on ‘Exhibiting the present times. The example of the MMK in Frankfurt.’
4 May, 12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.: Astrid Deuber-Mankowsky (Ruhr University Bochum) on ‘What is feminism today?’
18 May, 12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.: Discussion with author Judith Schalansky on her book Verzeichnis einiger Verluste (An Inventory of Losses)
7 June, 12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.: Oliver Nachtwey (University of Basel) on his study on the Querdenker (lateral thinker) movement and the state of democracy in the election year 2021
6 July, 12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.: The stolen art debate in Germany using the example of the Humboldt-Forum Berlin
