Roland Klick's first feature film is a criticism of post-war German bourgeois society, which subtly approaches political criticism through feelings and emotions. A style free of any influence from the moderate or radical left, as was the bias of other young German filmmakers of the time, who approached political criticism with message pictures or boldly subversive, radical films. This film was pivotal in offering a different notion of political criticism in cinema.
