Cuisinez avec Annika : Kartoffelpuffer © A. Wegerle

Surely you’ve heard about German cuisine classics such as Brezeln, Sauerkraut, Kartoffelsalat and Streuselkuchen… But have you ever cooked German recipes? If not, this is your chance! We are offering a series of online cooking workshops where you can discover a few delicious, comforting and easy recipes to make.

This workshop series is for people who already have some cooking experience. The workshop will be held in French.

Kartoffelpuffer, Rösti, Reibekuchen – no matter under which name you know this dish, it’s always the same delicious thing: a crispy, golden brown potato pancake made of grated potatoes.

Our chef Annika grew up with the very classic combination of Kartoffelpuffer und Apfelmus (apple sauce), which, in her family, was a side dish for soups of all kinds, such as pea and Spätzle soup or white bean soup. The slight sweetness and acidity of the apple sauce perfectly complements the fatty (and delicious!) richness of the Kartoffelpuffer and brings a bright element to an otherwise savoury dish.

For this workshop, Annika decided to present the famous Kartoffelpuffer und Apfelmus in a slightly modernized version and in a different context: she will show you how to make Kartoffelpuffer with an apple miso sauce as well as a second topping consisting of smoked salmon and a cold Quark and herb dip. To go with it, we’ll be making a lovely winter salad with kale, pears, walnuts and blue cheese. This combination can easily become part of a cozy Sunday brunch with friends or family.

The recipe, along with instructions and the link to the workshop, will be sent by email on March 15 to those who have registered. Limited spots available! Please register by email at bibliothek-montreal@goethe.de

Until then, don’t hesitate to email us if you have questions about the workshop. We look forward to cooking with you!
