Konzert|Final concert – Residency in new music
-
Goethe-Institut Montreal, Montreal
- Price Free admission, registration required
Berlin-based composer Eloain Lovis Hübner develops an artistic practice rooted in experimental sound research, exploring the potential of analog media through spatial, transdisciplinary, and collaborative formats, in dialogue with social, natural, technological, and media environments.
Marking the conclusion of her residency in Montreal, as part of the Goethe-Institut’s contemporary music residency program in collaboration with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec et Le Vivier, she presents the North American premiere of two solo works composed in 2025 for the award-winning Polish ensemble Spółdzielnia Muzyczna.
With T 5.48 for cello and E 56.9 for saxophone, Eloain Lovis Hübner continues her long-term exploration of unconventional sound production techniques for classical instruments, developed here through processes of experimentation and improvisation.
A discussion with the composer will follow the performance.

Eloain Lovis Huebner
Eloain Lovis Hübner (they/them, she/her) is a Berlin-based composer with a particular interest in experimental sound research in the analog world and links between music practice and its social, natural, technical, urban, domestic and media environments. Eloain holds degrees in composition and Applied Theater Studies; many of their works are in the field of artistic research or incorporate influences from sociology or queer studies. Their collaboration with artists from (almost) all disciplines has led to transdisciplinary productions at festivals and theaters in Europe and include immersive sound/space concepts, an online installation, durationals, music theater for children, a theory opera in game show format, and participatory formats.
Eloain has collaborated with renowned ensembles including Ensemble Modern, Decoder, Lange//Berweck//Lorenz (D), Klangforum, airborne extended, Schallfeld (AT), Lemniscate, Proton, eeek (CH), Kompopolex, Spółdzielnia Muzyczna (PL), HANATSUmiroir (F), Arditti Quartet (UK), and Concrète [Lab] (PT). They maintain particularly close ties with AuditivVokal Dresden, where they served as composer-in-residence in 2023. The solo album n.o.t.i.o.n.s (2023) and the live solo program Back on Stage (2024) gave rise to a unique composer-performer practice on instruments that Eloain “cannot play.”
Teaching assignments at interdisciplinary interfaces have taken Eloain to several music colleges, theater academies, and TransArts programs. Eloain curated the Musik 21 Festival in Lower Saxony from 2021 to 2024 and is involved in a wide range of cultural policy activities. They have been awarded several prizes and residencies in Europe and North America.
