Coordination of the Hub for artists from Sudan

The Goethe-Institut e.V. is the globally active cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. We promote cultural exchange, education and social discourse in an international context and support the teaching and learning of the German language. The Goethe-Institut Cairo is the regional institute of the MENA region.

We are looking for a dedicated employee starting on May 1 st , 2024 for the Coordination of the Hub for artists from Sudan The position is a 100% full-time position (currently 40 hours per week), limited to the 6-months duration of the project.

Brief Description of Tasks:
Coordination of the Hub for artists from Sudan

  • Planning and implementation of the project "Hub for artists from Sudan”. The project includes (1) the awarding of about 7 scholarships to artists and cultural workers from Sudan, (2) the organization of events and (3) the establishment of an exchange and dialog forum with artists in Egypt and Kenya.
  •  Organization of the Open Call for artists & cultural workers from Sudan as well as the organization of the jury meetings.
  • Management of the awarding of 7 grants
  • Preparation, implementation, and follow-up of events (e.g. cultural program, offers for psychosocial support, workshops and community events)
  • Establishment of a dialog forum to connect Sudanese artists with the artists in the respective countries.
  • Communication and coordination with project partners and participants
  • Project documentation and evaluation tasks
  • Public relations (website, social media contributions, etc.)
  • Preparation of a project report
Requirements:
  • Relevant university degree, ideally in social, political, development or cultural sciences or business administration
  • Experience in project management of larger projects, experience in the field of special funds of the Federal Foreign Office would be an advantage.
  • Very good English and Arabic language skills, German language skills are an advantage.
  • Very good IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • High level of communication and organizational skills
  • High intercultural competence
  • High ability to work under pressure, in a team and flexible.
  • Experience of working in the MENA region, especially Egypt desired
Remuneration and benefits are based on the remuneration scheme of the GoetheInstitut Cairo.
