Due to the current situation, the Goethe-Institut London is closed to the public. The classroom lessons will be given online rather than at the Goethe-Institut.

The Goethe-Institut offers the teacher training course DLL (Deutsch Lehren Lernen) Modul 8  “Deutsch als fremde Sprache für Kinder” which incorporates the principle of professional development through collaborative action research.

Teachers of German can:

  • enhance their current language and communication skills and competencies
  • broaden their understanding of MFL pedagogy
  • cover the content in module 8 “Deutsch als fremde Sprache für Kinder” and learn:
    • the latest research in the psychology of language acquisition, how the brains of children function and alter and its effect/relevance for language teaching and planning of effective teaching- how to evaluate the quality of learning activities and exercises they plan for their lessons
    • how to devise exercises and tasks to support interactive learning
    • how to select, plan and implement age-based appropriate individual, pair and group work tasks facilitating interaction between children to help them make progress
    • how to choose appropriate projects based on a task based language learning approach
    • experience how a teacher-led investigative model supports CPD and how this classroom based research can be facilitated discover how learning by experiencing, and observing with professional support and interaction, enhances:
  • training of strategies for independent, professional development
  • the development of more task-based and interactive teaching
  • the exchange of best practice examples, ideas and insights

Blended learning brings together the best aspects of the internet:
  • offering participants the opportunity to work in their own time
  • collaborating with the group in online activities
  • receiving ongoing online support from experienced teacher trainers Liz Black and Sabine Junker
