The Goethe-Institut Library in London is a public space that welcomes you to explore contemporary German culture: an open and diverse place where Europe and the rest of the world meet.

Our library in South Kensington is free and accessible to all from morning to evening. Our bright and comfortable rooms are ideal to read a book, meet people, work on your start-up idea or study for your exams.

Our media collection reflects the cultural and social perspectives of modern Germany. With border-crossing and cultural diversity now being a part of the German experience, this means incorporating European points of view. Our digital eLibrary complements the print media.

Our wide-ranging events explore culture, technology, translation and how these elements overlap. We want to connect diverse audiences through experimental formats and spontaneous encounters. We are fascinated by AI and want to make it more accessible to everyone. If you don’t believe us – just visit and ask our robot!

Most importantly we want you to contribute: our library, a room for your ideas.
