The refugee crisis has inflamed populist and extreme right-wing tendencies in multiple parts of Europe. A spreading xenophobia pushes stereotypes of the unknown as posing a threat, which constantly appears in public discourse and media.

10 double-sided banners displaying multiple artworks of this project are now exhibited in the centre hall of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

The format – easily accessible, strong images with short texts – is suitable to convey clear but complex messages. Inspired by the German project Bildkorrekturen the Goethe-Institutes in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, United Kingdom and Ireland organized workshops and exchanges between artists from those countries and Germany at the end of 2016 to promote a multi-faceted and open discourse – and, eventually, to raise the question of how to shape the future of our societies.
