Appearing at hcmf// for the first time in over a decade, contemporary music powerhouse Ensemble Modern come together with the Arditti Quartet – one of the world’s most acclaimed string quartets – to showcase a programme of UK premiere performances. Marking the festival’s 40th edition, hcmf// has co-commissioned Brian Ferneyhough to write five new movements for his cycle Umbrations, performed here in full alongside recent works by Christopher Trapani and Carola Bauckholt.
