Celebrating 150 years of Thomas Mann
Anniversary
In 2025, we celebrate the 150th birthday of Thomas Mann, one of Germany’s most important authors. Winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1929, he became a vocal critic of the Nazi ideology and emigrated in 1933, first to Switzerland, then to the USA. From there, he recorded his “Listen, Germany!”-speeches during WWII, which were broadcast by the BBC. The Goethe-Institutes in the UK are honoring Thomas Mann’s anniversary with an online dossier and an event series. Discover new facets of this pivotal figure of literature - online, in our libraries, and at our events!
