German Films at the 20th UK International Jewish Film Festival
Film Festival|Saturday, 5 – Sunday, 20 November 2016 - Various venues across London
The 20th edition of the UK International Jewish Film Festival will showcase over 80 World, European and UK premieres of new feature dramas, documentaries and shorts. Films from Germany include Hans Steinbichler’s adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank and the award winning The People vs Fritz Bauer (Der Staat Gegen Fritz Bauer) by Lars Kraume with Burghart Klaußner (The White Ribbon) in the lead role, who will be attending the festival.
Focusing on contemporary issues, Hanno Olderdissen’s turbulent romantic comedy set in Northern Germany Family Commitments (Familie Verpflichtet) sees the gay relationship between a Jew and an Arab put under strain by the one’s overbearing, arrogant and Islamophobic mother, and the other’s homophobic and conservative father.
Supported by the Goethe-Institut London
