Join us for the next session of our book club to discuss (in German) the book Möchte die Witwe angesprochen werden, platziert sie auf dem Grab die Gießkanne mit dem Ausguss nach vorne by Saša Stanišić. New members welcome!

ABOUT THE BOOK

What if one had not made this decision, but that one instead? What if one had defied expectations?

And then there is still the fear of having been cowardly, of having hesitated too long and missed out on something, a better self, greater happiness, more amusing pets and partners.

Saša Stanišić takes us to places where this is suddenly possible: to take the more difficult path, to make an unusual choice or to tell a good lie.

Like the cleaner who decides, with a goat hair brush in her hand, to finally take life into her own hands. Like the legal advisor who is willing to cheat in order to finally beat his eight-year-old son at Memory. And like the German-Bosnian writer who travels to Heligoland for the first time, only to discover that he has already been there before.
