We’re delighted that Alexandra Roesch will be joining us for a discussion about her life and work as a translator, being a bilingual translator, working as a literary scout, and her recent translation of Stefanie Schulte’s Boy with Black Rooster.
Alexandra Roesch studied languages and business before beginning her career in banking. She later earned an MA in Translation from the University of Bristol and went on to become a literary translator. In 2018, she was nominated for the Goethe Institute's Helen & Kurt Wolff Prize. Her work includes translations of Hans Fallada, Seraina Kobler, Merle Kröger, Stefanie vor Schulte, Elena Fischer and Leon Engler. In 2025, she was awarded the inaugural John Calder Translation Prize and Runner Up of the Schlegel-Tieck Prize for her translation of Boy with a Black Rooster by Stefanie vor Schulte.
These workshops are aimed at emerging and established literary translators. Meet fellow translators to discuss your work and the joys and issues related to (literary) translation.
