Synopsis

In a hilly area that has a history of being a war zone, Bani Nasution films a village where almost every building is closed except for the French Presidential Elections  and the wedding party of a German couple.

Biography

Bani Nasution was born in Surakarta, Central Java, as the last generation in the 1980s. Bani received his degree in art at the Art Institute Surakarta. When he was still studying, he made several short fiction films that were screened at film festivals in Indonesia. After graduating, his short documentary titled Sepanjang Jalan Satu Arah (Along the One Way Street) received a Special Jury Mention at the Sea Short Film Festival 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Currently, Bani is finishing his full length documentary Setyowati: The Invisible Wife, which is a mythological narrative about the marriage between humans and supernatural beings in order to restore the values of natural conservation in Java.
