Road to Seriale was conceived as an extension of Seriale Indonesia, aiming to expand the reach of series screenings, discussions, and creative development beyond the main festival setting. The initiative is rooted in the belief that a series ecosystem grows not only within industry centres, but also through exchanges across cities, communities, and diverse local practices.
Since its first edition, Road to Seriale has been designed as a travelling programme that brings selected series to different regions in Indonesia. Each city becomes a meeting point for series creators, film communities, academics, cultural spaces, and audiences. Through screenings, discussions, and sharing sessions, the programme opens conversations on production processes, distribution strategies, and the challenges of storytelling in serial formats within local contexts.
More than a screening tour, Road to Seriale places networking at the heart of its mission. Collaborations with local festivals, creative spaces, and community initiatives enable a two-way exchange: series reach new audiences, while local perspectives and experiences enrich the broader discourse on serial storytelling.
Through this approach, Road to Seriale functions as a sustainable platform that supports the development of Indonesia’s series ecosystem—fostering interregional connections, strengthening creative practices, and encouraging long-term collaboration as a foundation for the future of serial production.
Road to Seriale arrives in Cirebon in collaboration with Mapple Coffee Shop, a community-oriented venue that brings together diverse creative practices.
In Sumedang, Road to Seriale is realised in collaboration with the Sumedang Short Film Festival (SSFF), connecting the series ecosystem with local independent filmmakers.
