Lecture on Dance Film: October 25, 2018, 4 PM
Auditorium Pasca Sarjana IKJ, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jalan Cikini Raya No. 73 Jakarta 10330
With:
Arnd Wesemann (tanz Magazine, POOL- International Dance Film Festival Berlin)
Jecko Siompo (Choreographer, Indonesia)
Moderator: Lulu Ratna (Film Commitee Jakarta Council of the Arts)

Dance film is considered a new stage next to the conventional mostly theatre-based performance spaces. The medium of film offers new opportunities for artistic expression for dance and film artists alike who can respond to their direct environment and surrounding, without being restricted by physical infrastructure. The first edition of IMAJITARI – International Dance Film Festival responds to those developments in Indonesia, creating a learning and sharing platform for choreographers, filmmakers and audiences to get to know and explore the possibilities of dance film.

Invited by Goethe-Institut Indonesia, German dance expert Arnd Wesemann, co-editor of German dance magazine tanz and regular contributor to POOL International Dance Film Festival in Berlin, joins the inaugural edition of IMAJITARI. As a journalist and critic Wesemann has been following the development of the international performing arts world for decades. Wesemann is member of the jury for the international competition at IMAJITARI and speaker at a seminar on dance film.

IMAJITARI – International Dance Film Festival is an initiative of Jakarta Council of the Arts in cooperation with the Indonesian Creative Economy Agency BEKRAF and supported by Goethe-Institut Indonesia.
