The life of a spiritual guide and healer of the Mapuche Indigenous commune in the south of Chile, a matriarch of the Ê đê ethnicity and her work as a leading Indigenous researcher in Vietnam are just two of the several stories from the comics project Movements and Moments. Goethe-Institut will present 16 inspiring stories from the Global South concerning environmental activism, the fight for education, and the struggle for the rights of LGBTQIA+ for the first time in Germany as an exhibition and book preview.Place: zeitraumexit, Mannheim, Germany

A panel talk and a mural by Peruvian artist Trilce Garcia Cosavalente will accompany the presentation. Trilce will tell the story of Andean feminism as it has evolved over time through the biography of Helen Quiones Loaiza—a young Peruvian feminist, educator, activist—and her mother. We wonder how the young feminist daughter Helen will push on in the wake of her mother’s activism
