We are happy to invite you to the next installment of the ArtHouse Cinema program on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. This time we will screen the film called Göttliche Lage (Heavenly Location) directed by Ulrike Franke and Michael Loeken.

Dortmund, Hörde district: The Thyssen-Krupp steelworks have long been abandoned. The Phoenix Lake was created as an attraction in the middle of the wasteland. Even while the last big factory building is being dismantled, luxurious city villas and houses are being built around the lake. They’re unaffordable for the people from the old district. Project planners hope that the old workers’ houses will fall prey to the market and are mostly thinking about how to sell their own houses. The gentrification of the neighbourhood not only seems unavoidable, it also seems to be desired. Have the city planners mishandled matters?

Arthouse Cinema

Arthouse Cinema is the regular film program of the Goethe-Institut. Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month we screen independent movies, avant-garde movies, retrospectives, experimental films or documentary films from Europe and Indonesia – anything but the mainstream.
