Maren Amini (born 1983 in Hamburg) studied Communication Design with a focus on Illustration at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.
Her latest graphic novel Ahmadjan and the Hoopoe – about her father’s life between Afghanistan and Germany – received the German Comic Book Award and is nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize.
Her first cartoon book „mit Dir“ (with you) was published in 2025.
Since 2006, Amini has worked as a freelance cartoonist and illustrator for The Washington Post, Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, Jägermeister and the Fraunhofer Institute.
