As part of KinoFest Prelude, Goethe-Institut, in partnership with the UP Department of Family Life and Child Development (UP FLCD), presents a special screening of The Family Approach (Im Prinzip Familie).

This screening is a private event for the UP FLCD community and is not open to the general public. Students and faculty of UP FLCD can register for the screening through the button below.
The programme features The Family Approach, a 2024 documentary by German filmmaker Daniel Abma. The film follows three caregivers who work to create a home for children while navigating parental love, bureaucracy, and the child welfare system. It explores what it means to care for a child and the many forms that family can take.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, focusing on the film’s themes as well as social work and NGO practice in Germany.

NOTE: The event has been postponed to 24 September 2026 due to the switch of all classes to online classes because of the weather.
