Workshops for new GAPP schools

Are you thinking of starting a GAPP exchange but don't know how?

GAPP organizes free in-person workshops for prospective GAPP coordinators per year. These weekend-long workshops are geared towards teachers that want to learn practical details of starting a GAPP exchange at their school.

Our next workshop will take place in Arizona from January 30 to February 1, 2026.

German-American Virtual Exchange (GAVE) Webinars

GAVE (German American Virtual Exchange) is GAPP’s virtual exchange program. In this webinar you will learn how a GAVE enables you to offer your students a cultural exchange with a partner school in Germany without travelling, and about the framework, materials, and support available to teachers in this free program.

GAPP Webinar about long term exchange | Jan 20, 2026 | 12pm EST

GAPP offers students at secondary schools in Germany with an active GAPP partnership the opportunity to participate in a long-term exchange, either for a semester or a full academic year, at their U.S. partner school.

This webinar is designed for:
- American coordinators and host schools in the United States
- GAPP teachers in Germany interested in expanding exchange opportunities
- German students who have previously taken part in a short-term GAPP exchange and are considering an extended stay (5–12 months) at their U.S. partner school

Participants will gain clarity on the following:
-The structure and objectives of the long-term exchange program within GAPP
-The application process for the J-1 visa, including timelines and required documentation
-Roles and expectations of students, schools, and host families
-Support and resources provided by GAPP throughout the exchange

We all know that German teachers spend quite a bit of time recruiting for their programs. Why not save yourself a bit of time? This free lesson plan is geared towards German teachers wishing to get elementary school students in their community excited about German. It has all the materials you need, including step by step instructions. So why wait?
