This August, join us on the lawn outside of Comfort Station for classic German silent films paired with live musical accompaniment by Chicago musicians! Logan Square microcinema Comfort Film presents this year's installment of 'Silent Film, Loud Music' in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Chicago. All screenings begin at sunset.

Nosferatu is a masterpiece of German expressionist cinema and a forerunner of the horror genre. Its protagonist, Count Orlok, based on Bram Stoker’s character Dracula, has shaped how audiences imagine vampires to this day, with his pointed ears, hunched back, hollowed eyes, and stalactite teeth. In the film, real estate agent Thomas Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) visits Count Orlok (Max Schreck), a new client searching for a property in the fictional port city of Wisborg. When Hutter travels to Transylvania to secure Orlok’s signature on the deed, he realizes only too late that he has made a deal with a vampire.

Tim Corpus
Filipino-American composer and arts manager Tim Corpus brings his music to global audiences with performances at renowned venues like Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia Festival, Chicago’s Auditorium Theater, and the Kennedy Center, as well as recognition on BBC Radio3, NPR, Illinois Public Media and CNN Money. As a film and media composer, he has scored over 30 films and episodic projects, earning industry recognition from national festivals. An accomplished orchestrator and arranger, he often prepares music for esteemed performers worldwide, including Renée Fleming, Andrea Bocelli, Placido Domingo, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Third Coast Percussion, Opera Festival of Chicago, and others. As a leader in the arts, he has been Executive Director for Ear Taxi Festival, Hyde Park Youth Symphony, and Lake Forest Symphony; co-founder of the Opera Festival of Chicago; co-founder/vice-chair of the Society of Composers & Lyricists Chicago Chapter and a Governor of the Recording Academy’s Chicago Chapter.
