Director: Andreas Prochaska, Screenplay: Tony Saint (Ep. 1),Johannes Betz (Ep. 2),inspired by Lothar-Günther Buchheim's novels Das Boot and Die Festung, Created by: Johannes W. Betz, Tony Saint, Composer: Matthias Weber, Cast: Tom Wlaschiha, Vicky Krieps, Rick Okon, Vincent Kartheiser, Lizzy Caplan.
Inspired by Lothar-Günther Buchheims novels Das Boot and Die Festung, the series DAS BOOT continues where Academy Award nominated Filmmaker Wolfgang Petersens 1981 film Das Boot left off. During the Autumn of 1942, in occupied France, U-612 is now ready for its maiden voyage, preparing to head into increasingly brutal warfare with its young crewmen, including the new captain, Klaus Hoffmann (Rick Okon).
As the 40 young men take on their first mission, they struggle with the cramped and claustrophobic conditions of life underwater and the stress of naval combat. Their personalities are pushed to the limit as tensions rise and loyalties begin to shatter. Meanwhile, at the port of La Rochelle, the world of Simone Strasser (Vicky Krieps) spirals out of control. Engulfed in a dangerous liaison and forbidden love, torn between her loyalty for Germany and the Resistance, Simone begins to question her entire belief system. Could everything she thought to be true, in fact be a lie?
A story of choices and survival, DAS BOOT explores the emotional torment and brutal reality of life during World War II.
The event is a presented in cooperation with MHz Choice.
