A total of two grants will be awarded. With this scholarship, Casa Planas makes the Planas archive available for study, contextualisation and activation. This programme offers mentoring, meetings with arts professionals, support with production and exhibition of the results.

Conditions of Funding

Researchers, curators and creators working in Germany and the Balearic Islands in the field of contemporary art.

  • The Goethe-Institut provides Casa Planas with the financial means to award and supervise the stays.
  • This support can be combined with other sources of funding

The projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
  • Presentation of an original proposal dealing with cultural relations between the Balearic Islands and Germany (revival of historical figures, micro-histories, socio-economic research, proposals for the visualisation of cultural coexistence, etc.).
  • The feasibility of the project and its impact on the cultural, artistic and social spheres.
  • The integration of a climate and/or gender perspective.
  • Coherence of the proposal with the applicant's background.
Grants are awarded on a competitive basis in accordance with the principles of objectivity, equality, non-discrimination and publicity, non-discrimination and publicity.
The directors of Casa Planas will make an initial selection of applications.
The jury is made up of a representative of the Goethe-Institut Barcelona, a representative of Casa Planas and an external expert. A virtual meeting with the finalists can be requested.
60 percent of the scholarship is paid in advance. 40 percent after the end of the scholarship.

Applications should be sent to the following e-mail address: residencias@casaplanas.org

a) Subject of the mail: ‘Goethe on Mallorca 2025’.
b) Attached to the e-mail a single PDF file of maximum 10 MB containing the following:
  1. Contact details: Name, artist's name, age, origin, current place of residence (proven by identity card or registration certificate), e-mail, telephone, website and user names in social media.
  2. Portfolio or CV with 5 projects from the last few years, maximum 5 pages.
  3. Summarised CV, maximum 1 page, with highlighted projects.
  4. Summary of conceptual interests to be worked on, maximum 1 page.
  5. Methodology proposal to be implemented in Casa Planas. This section should address how you intend to work with the archive. For example: search for images on a specific theme, interviews, workshop, linking or intervention in the images, construction of narratives...
  6. Production proposal: Explanation of how the project will be presented: contemporary photography, video, web, artistic action...
