How to make international touring and artistic collaboration more sustainable – in relation to the climate, but also in relation to the lifespan of productions? Contemporary performance group Binge Culture (NZ) and the game theatre collective machina eX (GER) want to find an answer to these questions through an artistic exchange process, at the end of which two international productions will be shown in two countries without having to travel a single air mile. To this end, each group will adapt and present an existing play by the co-producing group – and thus have the opportunity to engage intensively with the artistic strategies, technical means and working methods of their international colleagues. "Disaster" by machina eX will be shown in Wellington in October 2024; "You and A.I." by Binge Culture in Düsseldorf in May 2025. In two hybrid events, they will publicly reflect on this innovative model so that other groups can apply it to their own work.
