Abendzauber II is an immersive music theatre installation that leads audiences on a multi-sensory journey to explore humanity’s shifting relationship to the natural world. Fusing Anton Bruckner’s Romantic choral works with the elemental compositions of Björk, this reimagined Canadian production — directed by Ruhtriennale’s Director of Artistic Programmes, Krystian Lada — will premiere at Luminato’s 2026 festival in Toronto. Audiences travel in small groups through a transformed industrial space, designed to evoke the interplay between nature and human industry through ice sculpture and other production elements, choreography, and unamplified a cappella singing. A coproduction between Ruhtriennale and Luminato, and developed with an international and local Canadian artistic team, Abendzauber II addresses universal concerns in a site-specific Toronto setting, offering an urgent reflection on beauty, industry, humanity, and ecological responsibility.
