Coproduction partners: Teresa Lucia Rosenkrantz (Germany), Kristóf Kelemen (Hungary), Tímea Török (Hungary), Lambert Strehlke (Germany)
DRIVE is an international documentary theatre project exploring the realities of Hungarian car factory workers and their connection to German industry. Since the 1990s, German automative companies have shaped Hungary’s economy and politics, created jobs but also deepened dependencies and inequalities.
Through research, interviews, and workshops, the project aims to connect two distant worlds —industrial labour and theatre. As part of an international collaboration and research based artistic process, performances emerge, in which three people share the stage: a former union leader, a factory worker and an actor. They share personal experiences of activism, solidarity, and social mobility, with a particular focus on trade unions and their representation in political discourse.
At a time when capitalist and authoritarian structures intensify social isolation, DRIVE aims to create spaces for exchange, recognition, and new alliances across countries, classes, and life experiences.
