Imagining Common Futures
Projects 2025 | Round 15
Coproduction partners: Tania Rubio (Mexico), Paretzer Field Music (Germany), Klanglandschaften Festival (Germany), Museo Morelense de Arte Contemporáneo Juan Soriano (Mexico), Fonoteca Nacional de México (Mexico)
Through exploration, experimentation, and art-based research, an interdisciplinary performance is created that reflects on the relationship of humanity with the environment. Through a creative exchange, the connections among art, science, nature, and community is explored to produce a collaborative performance that integrates music theater, visuals, performance, new technologies, and the environment. The performance is inspired by experiential encounters within the natural ecosystems of Mexico and Germany.
This collaboration develops a performance and a festival titled “Imagining Common Futures.” Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, artists and scientists are integrated to develop innovative hybrid formats that use art as a means of climate discourse, thereby engaging audiences emotionally and intellectually with ecological concerns.
International collaboration between Mexico and Germany fosters cultural exchange between the Global South and the Global North, promoting sustainable artistic practices. The project not only reflects on environmental themes but also embodies ecological responsibility in how art is created and presented.
