Threads of Female Power
Apply for the “Threads of Female Power” residency by Goethe-Institut Chennai & Alliance Française of Madras! Explore Shakti—the feminine force—through Indian textile traditions. This four-week residency in September 2025 connects intuition, strength, and healing with craft. Participants will create a textile-based installation for a curated show in March 2026. Discover, create, and celebrate the power of women
Conditions of Funding
Textile designers, fashion designers or artists working with textile from Germany, France and India with residence in Chennai.
International flight, accommodation (only for artists from Germany and France), honorarium, production costs.
To apply, you must:
- Be a female artist (from Germany, France or India, based in Chennai).
- Have a background in textile design, fashion design, or textile art.
- Have previously exhibited your work publicly.
- Be 18 years of age or older.

Name and surname, date of birth, place of birth, passport number, current address, e-mail, telephone number, website if applicable, plus confirmation that you will be available from August 30 to September 27, 2025
A statement of purpose - how you intend to engage with the theme conceptually, and what artistic idea or concept you plan to explore during the residency.
