PLOT

Filmed over a period of seven years in the style of a video diary, Army of Lovers explores the evolution and fragmentation of the gay and lesbian civil rights movement in the United States, from the Mattachine Society to the late 1970s. The film features emblematic figures of these struggles such as activist Harry Hay and pastor Troy Perry, as well as gay‑porn legend Fred Halsted, singer Grace Jones, and the homophobic conservative Anita Bryant.
