PLOT

Hannes tries by all possible means to rescue his lover Frank from the clutches of Madame C, the owner of a magic cabaret, a former member of the NSDAP, and founder of the sect “Optimal Optimism.”
With its painted sets and the avant‑garde cinematography of Elfi Mikesch, Horror Vacui emerges as a vivid homage to German Expressionism, particularly The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Dr. Mabuse.
