Into Film Festival

Goethe-Institut London

The Into Film Festival is a free and annual celebration of film and education for schools and young people across the UK. It aims to help educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds by inspiring young people to watch, make and understand film in new and creative ways.

Sputnik, 80 min
It’s 1989 and Germany is divided into the East and West by the Berlin Wall. Rike is a young girl and an explorer of all things – especially the sky – and she’s about to change the course of history forever. When her uncle Mike is deported from the East, she resolves to rescue him from the enemy and, after witnessing an act of teleportation on television’s Star Trek, believes she knows how. As Rike fights on three fronts against time, her uncooperative parents and a possible blossoming romance, we are witness to a fun and fierce heroine in this hope-filled, historical adventure.
