Film club: Lila, Lila
German film with English subtitles
Lila, Lila is a smart romantic satire by Alain Gsponer that pokes fun at Germany's literary industry. It follows David, a young waiter, who falls in love with Marie, a literature student. He only manages to impress her after a manuscript he finds accidentally is published as 'his' novel. This plagiarism spurs on David's career - that is until over-the-hill bohemian Jacky appears, the real author of the book. David’s lie is about to be exposed - or could Jacky be an imposter too?
'... a fantastic cast ... a smart, sharp satire on the madness of the book market and as an entirely uncynical and kitschfree romance. A delight.' DER SPIEGEL
