On 8 April 2025, author Anna von Rath will be a guest at our international book club #Meet the Author. She will present her book Power Language: A Manifesto for More Justice (Macht Sprache: Ein Manifest für mehr Gerechtigkeit) in a discussion moderated by Susi Peter.
Power Language: A Manifesto for More Justice
A linguistic change is needed in order to promote a more just and fair society. But how do you manage to express yourself with as much sensitivity and with as little discrimination as possible? In Power Language: A Manifesto for More Justice, Anna von Rath and Lucy Gasser examine how language and discrimination are connected, how language can disempower but also empower.
With their manifesto, Lucy Gasser and Anna von Rath create awareness of the many stumbling blocks when it comes to speaking. They broaden our view of the sources of injustice and discrimination and offer inspiration for reflection and constructive suggestions so that we don't stop talking to each other - without fear of expressing ourselves incorrectly and antagonizing or upsetting the other person.
Technical requirements
We use Zoom for our meeting. We recommend the use of a headset, as loudspeakers can produce disruptive echo effects. Participation is possible from PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or Android device. To participate, simply follow the link we will send you after registration and log in to the room.
