German Week

12-16 October 2026, Goethe-Institut Irland and the German Embassy in Ireland invite schools throughout Ireland to celebrate the  German language and German culture for the first time.

Whether you're a beginner or an advanced learner of German, our German Week meets everyone exactly where they are.

German Week

Our goal with German Week is to make learning German in schools more visible, engaging, and vibrant. We want to spark young learners' curiosity for languages and highlight the special value of multilingualism in today's interconnected world. German Week offers schools across Ireland the opportunity to celebrate a modern and multifaceted Germany and present their students with a fresh, diverse, and contemporary image of Germany. German opens doors in Europe – for vocational training, university studies, or your next road trip!

What can you expect during German Week?

We are delighted to offer a wide range of creative and educational activities and events, both online and in person, to help your schools bring German to life. Our program includes:

ON-SITE:

  • Taster courses for primary schools
  • School visits and workshops for students at our institute
  • Invite a Young Goethe Ambassador directly into your classroom.

ONLINE

  • An online menu with games, links, and other creative materials that teachers can download free of charge and use in their German lessons.
  • An online career roadshow on 16 October 2026 in cooperation with the German Embassy, the German-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK), and our partner companies.
  • Online challenges for all learning levels with great prizes on our social media channels.
  • An online webinar about our offerings for secondary school students and teachers.
