Seven members of EUNIC Ireland (European Union National Institutes for Culture) are again presenting a selection of European short films from their home countries at the Galway Film Fleadh, at the Irish Film Institute and at the Cork Film Festival. The audience will be asked to vote for their favourite film after the screening.
The Galway Film Fleadh, the IFI and the Cork Film Festival will each present one short films out of competition.

Baby pictures, holiday pictures, wedding photographs – our life is an endless sequence of photogenic memories. Pix is a short film that deals with the idea of this universal photo album life by reducing a person’s life to those moments that are captured in photos – raising the question of how real the photos really are.
Sophie Linnenbaum studied psychology, writes plays for children and has been shooting short films for almost ten years. Since 2013 she has been studying film directing at the Film University Babelsberg.

Clanker Man CLANKER MAN

Reality doesn’t happen by itself. Terry Lothian works tirelessly to maintain the background details that we all take for granted. But with his department feeling the pinch of austerity cutbacks, it’s not just the fabric of reality that’s starting to unravel.
The multi-award-winning "Clanker Man" is the second short from writer/director Ben Steiner and producer Dan Dixon, co-founders of Fume Films. Development of a feature version of their previous short, multi-award-winning horror crime thriller "The Stomach", is being overseen by the BFI.

La primera vez que te vi LA PRIMERA VEZ QUE TE VI

After grocery shopping, while walking down the streets of The Madrid of the Austrians, a couple remember the day they met on those same streets. Time has passed for them but the streets are perceived just like that day as they stroll through their memories.
Brothers Guillermo and Daniel Tirado studied film directing in Madrid. Several of their short films have received awards and they currently work in the production company LTBL Productions.

"Made in France" attempts to answer the urban legend around an event which affects us all: the disappearance of socks!
"Made in France" is co-directed by six students from the ESMA School in Toulouse. They worked on every step of the process from the storyboard to the animation itself. They all graduated from the ESMA School in 2017.

Time Traveller TIME TRAVELLER

A "Back to the Future-obsessed" traveller boy strives to finish building his own DeLorean replica before his family is evicted from their halting site.
Steve Kenny studied Film at Trinity College Dublin and London Film School. Horror-thriller short "Coil" marked Steve’s debut on the festival circuit. "Time Traveller" is his second short, which premiered at the 2017 Galway Film Fleadh.

After being stopped by the police, a young father of Arabic origin fails to explain the situation to his son – unaware that the most inexplicable happenings are yet to come...
Michael Rittmannsberger is a Vienna based writer/director for film and commercials. His narrative films have screened at more than 200 film festivals worldwide.

Love is a net that traps our minds, but it’s not the only one. Vittoria learned to make fishing nets as a very young girl; now in her later years, she explains how we all swim in social expectations, toxic relationships and preconceptions.
Gloria Kurnik is a Polish visual storyteller and filmmaker. Her work focuses on creating bridges between different cultures. Giulia Di Battista is an Italian filmmaker.

"My Mother Is My Priest'" is a celebration of women and mothers. It is a statement against the patriarchal structure of many religious organisations and is in support of the #metoo and #repealthe8th movements, as well as the current global feminist movement. Ultimately, it highlights the powerful and important role that women and mothers have in society.
Linda Bhreathnach is an award-winning Irish writer, director and actress. This is her third short film.

The Wedding Speech THE WEDDING SPEECH

As the best man, Ed doesn’t realise that his speech will be the most important one that he will ever make.
Joe McStravick is an award-winning film and television director as well as screenwriter who works in narrative drama and documentary. A number of his past projects have been commissioned and/or broadcast by BBC, Northern Ireland Screen, TG4, the Irish Language Broadcast Fund, the Arts Council and Community Channel.

Louis Marcus’ observational documentary was shot in several Montessori schools in Dublin and shows the persistence and innate intelligence of young children at work and at play. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) at the 46th Academy Awards.
Louis Marcus (b.1936) is an Irish documentarian who has won many prestigious Irish and international awards and was twice nominated for Academy Awards. He is a member of Aosdána and an honorary member of the Royal Hibernian Academy.
